Job Description
Duties
Essential Duties:
- Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods
- The teacher will plan and plan lessons for STEM, basic computer, keyboard, and internet safety, and applied digital skills to students in Grades 3 through Grade 8
- Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
- Assist students in connecting to technological principles in the real world
- Instruct students in a manner that develops students' confidence in their computer abilities
- Attends professional development and training related to STEM and Computer Science programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning
- Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM and Computer Science initiatives and curriculum
- Demonstrates appropriate academic planning
- Is objective and consistent in student assessment
- Sets objectives that are clear and student-centered
- Creates lessons that follow logical and orderly sequences
- Provide clear and concise directions
- Maximizes student learning and involvement
- Uses a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of each student
- Maintains and encourages appropriate student behavior by establishing clear expectations and providing positive reinforcement.
- Exhibits a positive and professional attitude with students, families, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Exercises general supervision over all students during school hours and at all school-sponsored events
- Establishes and maintains an environment that is safe, orderly, and is conducive to learning
- Follows and implements district procedures and policies
- Participates in professional activities and organizations
- Actively seeks professional growth
- Plans for and utilizes support staff when applicable
- Accepts evaluation and redirection in a professional manner.
- Is consistent in attendance
- Is punctual with reports, records, and communications
- Cooperates with and is responsible to the principal
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License and preference for an endorsement in Technology and/or Computer Literacy, Math, or Science.
- Preferred experience in STEM and/or Technology Curriculum
- Excellent communication skills
- Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning
- Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
- Apply science and/or math content knowledge at a high level
- Ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning
- Understanding of student learning theory and differentiated instruction

New Teacher Orientation August 7 - 9 Staff will be compensated for their meeting time.
