Job Description

Duties

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods
  2. The teacher will plan and plan lessons for STEM, basic computer, keyboard, and internet safety, and applied digital skills to students in Grades 3 through Grade 8
  3. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity
  4. Assist students in connecting to technological principles in the real world
  5. Instruct students in a manner that develops students' confidence in their computer abilities
  6. Attends professional development and training related to STEM and Computer Science programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research
  7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning
  8. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  9. Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM and Computer Science initiatives and curriculum
  10. Demonstrates appropriate academic planning
  11. Is objective and consistent in student assessment
  12. Sets objectives that are clear and student-centered
  13. Creates lessons that follow logical and orderly sequences
  14. Provide clear and concise directions
  15. Maximizes student learning and involvement
  16. Uses a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of each student
  17. Maintains and encourages appropriate student behavior by establishing clear expectations and providing positive reinforcement.
  18. Exhibits a positive and professional attitude with students, families, colleagues, and supervisors.
  19. Exercises general supervision over all students during school hours and at all school-sponsored events
  20. Establishes and maintains an environment that is safe, orderly, and is conducive to learning
  21. Follows and implements district procedures and policies
  22. Participates in professional activities and organizations
  23. Actively seeks professional growth
  24. Plans for and utilizes support staff when applicable
  25. Accepts evaluation and redirection in a professional manner.
  26. Is consistent in attendance
  27. Is punctual with reports, records, and communications
  28. Cooperates with and is responsible to the principal

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  1. Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License and preference for an endorsement in Technology and/or Computer Literacy, Math, or Science. 
  2. Preferred experience in STEM and/or Technology Curriculum
  3. Excellent communication skills 
  4. Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning
  5. Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
  6. Apply science and/or math content knowledge at a high level
  7. Ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning
  8. Understanding of student learning theory and differentiated instruction

 

Salary/Benefits

 

Please see the Collective Bargaining Agreement Range $50,500 - $74,688 Previous Experiences Granted Up to 15 Years

New Teacher Orientation August 7 - 9 Staff will be compensated for their meeting time.
